Positive: The family is amazing. Great food, amazing hospitality, comfortable rooms and very attentive to any needs and requirements.

Negative: There are no heaters in the rooms, so it can get a little cold.

Positive: Great location to stay overnight before visiting Pallay Punchu (recommend leaving early so you arrive at the trailhead before 8am if you want to beat the tour groups from Cusco). The lodge is about 1 hour walk from Layo or you could drive. Tasty dinner for S25 and breakfast included in price of the room. Room was modern, very clean and comfortable.

Negative: Only the first shower was hot then the water was cold.

Positive: There is a dirt road to get to this property and as we pulled up we were greeted with the most amazing sunset and the friendliest staff - unfortunately our Spanish is bad but the lady there was able to call someone who spoke English to get us all the details - The location was perfect for the Pallay rainbow mountains ! Breakfast was great and we got lots of fruit , bread , juice , coffee and eggs !! The beds were covered with lots of blankets and were warm which is always a worry in the Peru mountains at night ! 1 of the 2 of us got a hot shower and then the water wouldn’t go hot again but that seems to be often the case in Peru and not necessarily the property’s fault !! Would highly recommend this stay !!

Positive: As a low budget backpacker this was by far my most expensive stay. But it was worth every peso. Less than half the price of a tour from Cusco and double the experience. Got Pallay Punchu completely for myself during a sunrise hike. The lodge is located between Layo and Pallay Punchu, both at a distance of about 3km. The bed is super comfy, bathroom is comfortable and the shower has hot water. The host and especially la jefe pequeña, Maria, are super friendly and helpful. Dinner was good and breakfast was amazing!

Negative: Only tip would be the Communication upfront regarding possible transport to get there, since it’s quite the walk with two heavy backpacks and the colectivo driver wanted to charge me 80 pesos to get me there.

Summary: Perfect Spot to visit Pallay Punchu without a tour.

Positive: The views and proximity to the hikes are unbelievable. Not to mention, we were lost getting there due to being in the dark and the hosts spent not only time waiting for us to get there but assistance on our drive. Rocio was amazing and she was such a pleasant woman. I would absolutely stay back here again.

Positive: The surroundings are absolutely beautiful – very close to Pallay Punchu and in an exclusive, quiet area. The place itself was clean and had a lovely view, which we really appreciated.

Negative: Some aspects were different from what was shown in the photos. For example, the toilet is located downstairs rather than inside the room, and we did not have access to the lobby pictured online. Information about breakfast, facilities, and other details could have been clearer at the beginning, and we often had to ask for information ourselves. Communication was also a bit challenging. Guests should also be aware that the lodge is at a very high altitude; we experienced some shortness of breath during the night, which made sleeping a bit difficult.
